Primm sits on Interstate 15 at the state line. Primm Valley Resort, the town's hotel-casino, says it has welcomed travelers since 1990 and lies 40 miles south of Las Vegas. Its website now opens with "We're Back!" and a booking prompt.

The resort lists more than 300 rooms and suites with no resort fees. The 46,000-square-foot casino has 427 slot and video poker machines and a William Hill Race & Sports Book with 22 TVs. The resort also runs the Lotto Store, which it calls one of the world's busiest lottery stores.

Primm Valley displays the bullet-riddled Ford V-8 that Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were in when police killed them in Louisiana in 1934. Its new Pete's Steakhouse uses decor and artifacts from Whiskey Pete's Casino & Hotel.

What to expect

Most visitors stop on the drive between Las Vegas and Southern California. Inside Primm Valley you will find the casino, sportsbook, an arcade, a fitness center and a pool. The Diner Express serves all day, around the clock, and Pete's Steakhouse has a whiskey-focused menu.

Outside the resort, the Primm Center gas station has a Starbucks with mobile ordering and a Pinkbox Doughnuts counter. McDonald's sits next to the gas station, and Carl's Jr. and Taco Bell are next to the outlet mall. The resort's Lotto Store sells self-service and counter tickets, including scratchers, for Nevada visitors who want to buy California lottery tickets.
