About
Penn & Teller is the long-running magic and comedy show from Penn Jillette and Teller, playing the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio Hotel & Casino on West Flamingo Road. The Rio bills the pair as the longest-running headliners in Las Vegas history and says they are marking 50 years together and 25 years at the resort.
The duo started out busking on the streets of Philadelphia. Their stage show opened Off-Broadway in 1985 and moved to Broadway in 1987. Their Las Vegas debut was at Bally's before the move to the Rio. On TV they host "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" on The CW, where magicians try to fool them for a chance to perform in the Vegas show.
Their own bio says they combine magic, comedy and social commentary, a skeptic's streak also seen in their Showtime series "Penn & Teller: BS!" The Rio sums up the show in three words: "Edgy. Provocative. Hilarious."
What to expect
This is a theater show in a large room. The Rio says the renovated Penn & Teller Theater seats nearly 1,500 people, with balcony and mezzanine seating offered at every performance. The show is listed under both comedy and magic, so expect talk and jokes between the tricks, not a silent illusion revue.
The Rio describes the pair as the "Bad Boys of Magic" and calls the material edgy. Official pages do not state a running time or list specific content warnings. The age floor is 5, so younger children cannot attend. After the show, a paid meet and greet lets guests meet both performers, take a selfie and collect a souvenir bag with a signed poster.

Where do Penn & Teller perform in Las Vegas?
They perform at the Penn & Teller Theater inside the Rio Hotel & Casino, 3700 W. Flamingo Road. Some older listings place the show at Horseshoe Las Vegas. As of September 2026 the Rio's own site lists the show at the Rio, where the pair say they are marking 25 years.
What nights and times does the show run?
The Rio lists the show Thursday through Sunday at 8:00 PM. As of Sept. 28, 2026, the listed dates are Oct. 1β4, 8β11 and 15β17, plus Nov. 6β8 and 14β15. The calendar shows no performances from Oct. 18 to Nov. 4 or from Nov. 16 through Dec. 31, 2026. Check the Rio's page for new dates.
Can children see Penn & Teller?
Yes, from age 5. The Rio's show page lists the age requirement as 5+. The Rio also calls the show edgy and provocative, and it is billed as comedy as well as magic. Parents of young children may want to know the act includes talk and jokes aimed at adults, not a kids' magic show.
Can you meet Penn & Teller after the show?
Yes, through a paid post-show meet and greet sold on the Rio's page. It includes time with both performers, a selfie, a souvenir bag with show merchandise and a signed poster, and a VIP entry lanyard. You need a separate show ticket to buy it. Availability can vary by date.
How big is the Penn & Teller Theater?
The Rio says the recently renovated theater seats nearly 1,500 people. Balcony and mezzanine seating is available at every performance. That makes it one of the larger rooms for a magic act, so seat location matters more here than in a small showroom. Groups of 20 or more can contact the show's sales team.
