About
WOW - The Vegas Spectacular is a variety production show at the Rio Hotel & Casino, in the resort's WOW Theater. Rio lists it under comedy, variety and extravaganza.
According to Rio, the cast has more than 30 performers. Acts include acrobats, dancers and jugglers, plus a crossbow archer. The staging is built around a 180-degree stage with a 1,000-square-foot water feature at its center, along with 3D projections and hologram effects.
Rio says the production has won Best of Las Vegas awards in categories including Best Production Show, Best New Show, Best Family Friendly Show and Best Value Show.
What to expect
The format is a revue: a series of acrobatic, dance and specialty numbers rather than one plot. The stage wraps 180 degrees around the audience, and much of the action centers on a large pool of water in the middle, which performers work in and around. Projected 3D imagery and holograms fill in the scenery between acts.
Rio sets the minimum age at 4, which makes it one of the resort's family options. The showroom has a walk-up bar for guests 21 and over and serves light snacks, but there is no meal service. Cameras and audio or video recording are not allowed, and all guests go through a security screening before entry.
