About
The Neon Museum is a nonprofit founded in 1996. Its 2.27-acre campus north of Downtown holds the outdoor Neon Boneyard, the North Gallery and a visitors' center inside the former La Concha Motel lobby, a 1961 shell-shaped building by architect Paul Revere Williams that was moved to the site in 2006.
The Boneyard holds more than 250 unrestored signs, lit from the ground at night, plus a smaller set of restored signs that glow on their own. Recent additions include the Lido de Paris, Tropicana, Flamingo, Debbie Reynolds and Dunes signs, and a Mirage Lagoon sign that arrived in June 2026.
The History. Brought to Light. Tour follows the city from Indigenous peoples and the railroad era through the Mob years, segregation and the Moulin Rouge, which the museum calls the first racially integrated casino in the country. A Spanish version runs as Tour de Historia.
What to expect
You book a timed evening ticket, check in at the La Concha visitors' center, and walk the Boneyard on fine gravel paths. General admission is self-guided and takes about 45 minutes. If you add the history tour at checkout, a museum guide leads you past signs such as the Stardust and the Treasure Island skull and explains designers like Betty Willis and Kermit Wayne.
The North Gallery houses Brilliant! Jackpot, a 45-minute add-on that uses projection mapping to relight about 40 signs that no longer work, set to music. Stills are allowed there, but video and audio recording are not. The Boneyard is outdoors and uncovered, so the night air and wind are part of the visit.
