Las Vegas Elopement Guide 2026: License, Chapels & Real Costs

Las Vegas is still the easiest place in the United States to get married on short notice. Nevada has no waiting period and no blood test, the license office is open until midnight every day of the year, and dozens of chapels will marry you the same afternoon. This guide covers the legal steps and the realistic options for a small, quick wedding, with fees checked against the Clark County Clerk and the chapels' own sites in September 2026.

How to Elope in Las Vegas, Step by Step

Apply online. Fill in the Clark County Clerk's online marriage license application before you travel. It saves time at the counter and stays in the system for a year.
Collect the license together. Both of you go in person, at the same time, to the Marriage License Bureau with original photo ID. Pay the $102 fee.
Hold the ceremony. At a chapel, a resort or the county's Office of Civil Marriages. You need an authorized officiant and at least one witness.
Let the officiant file it. The Clerk says the officiant has ten calendar days to deliver the signed certificate for filing.
Order proof of marriage. Once it is filed, order certified copies from the Clerk ($20 each). You need one for a name change.

The Marriage License

According to the Clark County Clerk in September 2026:

Where: the Marriage License Bureau, 201 E. Clark Avenue, downtown Las Vegas.
When: 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, open all holidays.
Fee: $102. Cards are accepted with a processing fee (2% plus $1.25); checks are not.
ID: original, government-issued photo ID for both of you, such as a driver's license, passport or military ID.
Age: 18 or older, with narrow exceptions for 17-year-old Clark County residents with a court order.
Previously married? You state how many times. The Clerk doesn't need the divorce decree unless it lets you use a name different from the one on your ID.
Validity: under Nevada law (NRS 122.040) a license expires one year after it is issued, so you can get it the day before.

Queues are longest on Friday and Saturday evenings and on popular dates like Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve. Applying online first shortens the wait.

The Civil Ceremony: The Cheapest Legal Option

The county performs short civil ceremonies at the Office of Civil Marriages, 330 S. 3rd Street, a few blocks from the license bureau. What the Clerk lists:

Fee: $75, on top of the $102 license, so $177 in all before card fees.
Payment: credit or debit card only; no cash or checks.
Appointments: by appointment only, booked through the Clerk's site.
Hours: Sunday to Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Friday 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.

It is a brief, legal ceremony without decoration, music or photography packages. Bring your witness and your own camera. Ask when you book whether guests are allowed and how many.

Chapel Elopements

A chapel adds the setting, the officiant, often a witness, and photos. Packages vary a lot in what they include, so compare the full price. Listed starting prices in September 2026:

Cheapest real chapel: Vegas Weddings' drive-thru at $89, or its chapel packages from $159. Its Crystal Suite holds up to 10 guests, which suits an elopement.
Most Vegas: an Elvis wedding. Graceland built its name on them, Vegas Weddings sells Elvis packages from $499, and the Little Church of the West adds an Elvis impersonator for $200.
Most traditional: Chapel of the Flowers, with a Victorian chapel, glass gardens and a gazebo. Its Romantic package started at $650 and its Regal package at $795.
Drive-thru: A Little White Wedding Chapel's Tunnel of Love and Vegas Weddings' drive-thru both marry you without leaving the car.

Watch the extras. Officiant fees are sometimes charged separately and in cash (the Little Church of the West lists its minister fee that way), and packages often include only a handful of digital photos. Ask for a written quote with everything in it.

Resort Elopements

Several Strip resorts have their own wedding salons and small-wedding packages, priced on request. Wynn, for example, has the Lilac Salon for up to 60 guests and the Lavender Salon for up to 120, plus the outdoor Primrose Courtyard, which Wynn lists at an extra $2,200 per hour on top of a wedding package. It also offers an "Intimate Elegance Elopement" package for ceremonies between June 1 and December 30, 2026; call its wedding team for the price.

A resort elopement costs several times a chapel package, but it can bundle the room, dinner and photos in one place. Ask each resort for a full quote including service charges.

Outdoor and Desert Elopements

Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire and even the Grand Canyon make striking backdrops. Chapel of the Flowers arranges ceremonies at Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, the Grand Canyon and on the High Roller, and Vegas Weddings sells outdoor packages from $399. Public lands and state parks have their own permit rules, so book through an operator that handles them, or check with the land manager. Witnesses and Guests

Nevada law (NRS 122.110) requires at least one witness at the ceremony besides the officiant. Many chapels can provide one if you arrive as a couple; ask whether there is a charge. For the civil ceremony, plan to bring your own.

For family who can't travel, several chapels offer live streaming, including Graceland. Small rooms cap guest numbers, so tell the chapel how many are coming when you book.

A Same-Day Elopement Timeline

Before the trip: apply online for the license and book the chapel or civil ceremony slot.
Early afternoon: collect the license at 201 E. Clark Avenue. Allow an hour for the queue on a busy day.
Mid-afternoon: the ceremony. Chapel ceremonies are short; allow an hour with paperwork and photos.

Add card fees, any separate officiant fee or gratuity, extra photos, flowers, transport, tips and $20 for each certified copy. None of these are optional in practice, so budget for them.

Book ahead for special dates. Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve and repeating-number dates fill up.
Coming from abroad: the Clerk says Las Vegas marriages are recognized throughout the US and in most countries. Some countries want an apostille, which comes from the Nevada Secretary of State and needs a certified copy.
