About
The South Point Arena & Equestrian Center is inside South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa at 9777 Las Vegas Boulevard South. Its centerpiece is the Main Arena: 4,600 seats around a 250 by 125 foot show floor, with a Boot Barn concourse, CINCH Saloon and Yeti refreshment zones.
The complex also has the Priefert Pavilion, finished in 2014 with two 250 by 125 foot indoor arenas. Farnam Arena is a covered outdoor ring of 300 by 150 feet, and there is an indoor practice arena of 270 by 90 feet. Its 1,200 climate-controlled stalls hold competitors' animals during events only; the public cannot board horses there.
South Point says it books more than 30 weeks of equestrian events a year, from rodeo finals to breed shows. A separate exhibit hall and conference center add 150,000 square feet of space.
What to expect
What you see depends on the week. The calendar is mostly rodeo, bull riding, cutting, roping and breed championships. Many horse shows are marked free to the public, while rodeo finals and bull riding are ticketed. Visitors watch from the Main Arena stands or walk the Priefert Pavilion and barns during competition.
Because the arena is part of the resort, a visit runs through South Point's casino, restaurants and parking. Parking is free in a seven-story covered garage and an outdoor lot, and valet is free too. On site there is a feed store, vet clinic, farrier room and wash racks for competitors, plus on-site horse trailer parking.
