About
KÀ is Cirque du Soleil's resident show at MGM Grand. Robert Lepage created and directed it, with Guy Caron as director of creation. Mark Fisher designed the set and René Dupéré composed the music. Jacques Heim did the choreography, and Michael Curry designed the puppets.
KÀ tells one continuous story. Imperial twins, a brother and a sister, are torn apart when their kingdom is attacked. The sister drifts out to sea with her Nursemaid. The brother sets out to find her with the Royal Court Jester. Both must get through a hostile world to reunite.
The title refers to an ancient Egyptian belief in a spiritual double of the body. In the show, that spirit links the two heroes. Cirque describes the production as built around some of the most complex custom technical elements in live theater.
What to expect
The story is told without words, through movement, acrobatics and music. Early on, a Royal Barge carries the twins to a Pageant featuring Wushu, Chinese Opera and Brazilian Capoeira. Later scenes include a vertical battle, a Wheel of Death act, archery, a Mountain Tribe and giant sea creatures. The whole performance runs 90 minutes without an intermission.
The music is played live at every show. The musicians follow the artists on a high-definition camera feed so sound and action stay in sync. Cirque warns that some scenes use loud noises and darkness. That is why children under 3 are not admitted, and anyone under 18 must come with an adult.

Is KÀ suitable for kids?
Children under 3 are not allowed in, because some scenes use loud noises and darkness. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The show has no spoken dialogue and follows twins separated by war, so parents of young children should expect battle scenes, fire and sudden loud moments.
How long is KÀ?
KÀ runs 90 minutes with no intermission. Cirque du Soleil recommends arriving at MGM Grand about an hour and a half before showtime and heading to the theater about 40 minutes ahead. Doors open 30 minutes before the performance begins, so plan restroom and drink stops before you are seated.
What does the name KÀ mean?
Cirque du Soleil says the name comes from an ancient Egyptian belief in a spiritual duplicate of the body, a double that accompanies each person through this life and into the next. In the show, that spirit connects the twin brother and twin sister as they make separate journeys through love, danger and an empire at war.
Is the music in KÀ live?
Yes. Musicians play live at every performance. According to Cirque du Soleil, they watch the stage on a high-definition camera and follow the artists as they play, so the score and the action line up exactly. René Dupéré composed and arranged the music for the production.
Where do I park for KÀ?
Self-parking is in the Guest Parking Garage at MGM Grand. You can reach it from Tropicana Boulevard, Las Vegas Boulevard or Koval Lane. Valet parking is accessed from Tropicana Boulevard. Cirque suggests arriving at the resort about 90 minutes before the show.
