About

Stripper 101 is a beginner dance class run out of its own studio at the V Theater, inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The class lasts 75 minutes and is aimed at bachelorette parties, birthdays and groups of friends. No dance experience is needed.

The instructors are working Las Vegas strippers and burlesque dancers, according to the class's own site. They teach a chair (lap) dance routine, beginner pole moves such as walking spins and turns, and floor work and booty shaking. Each move is taught step by step, then joined into a short routine.

There is no nudity. Participants keep their clothes on for the whole class. Each guest leaves with a souvenir Stripper 101 License that carries a made-up stripper name.

What to expect

You start at the V Theater box office, not the studio. Bring photo ID to collect your tickets and fill out a waiver; you can do this any time after booking. The box office asks you to come back 15 to 30 minutes before class if the waiver is still open. Staff then walk the group to the studio. Late arrivals should go straight to the box office.

The class opens with the chair dance, then moves to the pole and finishes with floor work. The site says the class is not meant as a workout, but you will sweat. There are cubbies in the room for bags, and restrooms nearby for changing. The regular public class runs at 1:30 pm every day. Private classes run at 12 pm and 3 pm.

Good to know

  • Wear clothes you can move in. Shorts are preferred to pants. Heels are recommended, sneakers are fine, and flip-flops are not recommended.
  • The class is not recommended if you are pregnant or have an injury that exercise could aggravate. This is covered on the waiver.
  • Every attendee needs a ticket and a signed waiver. Onlookers are not allowed in the room.
  • Groups of 10 or more can get a group rate by phone (702-260-7200). The site suggests booking weekend group classes at least two weeks ahead.
  • Private classes have no minimum size and cost an extra one-time fee on top of tickets. They are booked by phone, ideally 3 to 4 weeks ahead and no later than 24 hours before.
  • Walking from the Strip, the site suggests the north mall entrance by Sephora and Cabo Wabo, near Paris and across from Bellagio. Drivers can park in the Miracle Mile Shops garage and enter on level 3.
