About

CES is the annual trade show of the Consumer Technology Association, which calls it the only trade show that showcases the entire tech landscape at one event. Hardware makers, developers and suppliers exhibit alongside a conference program of keynotes and sessions.

Jack Wayman launched CES in New York, where the first show ran June 25-28, 1967 with more than 100 exhibitors and 17,000 attendees. Las Vegas became its permanent home with the January 1978 Winter CES, and since 1998 CES has been a single annual show held only in Las Vegas.

CES 2026 drew 148,392 participants according to an independently audited count released by CTA, including 55,841 international participants from 141 countries, regions and territories. It had more than 4,100 exhibitors, including some 1,200 startups in Eureka Park.

For CES 2027 the organiser lists 12 official venues in three campuses: the LVCC Campus, the Venetian Campus around Venetian Expo, and the C Space Campus at ARIA.

What to expect

Media days at Mandalay Bay come first, on January 4 and 5, 2027, and conference programming starts on the 5th. Exhibits open Wednesday January 6 at 10 AM and close Saturday January 9 at 4 PM; C Space and CES Foundry close after Friday.

Badges are never mailed. Everyone must collect their own badge, with government-issued photo ID and the registration QR code, at a remote pickup point before entering a show venue. Pickup desks include Harry Reid International Airport baggage claim (Terminals 1 and 3), MGM Grand and the LVCC.

CES runs complimentary shuttles from select official hotels to the LVCC and Venetian Expo from January 5 to 9, the Tech Express between those two venues, and a C Space shuttle to ARIA. The Las Vegas Monorail stops at the LVCC but not at Venetian Expo.

Good to know

  • Bags: you may carry two small bags into show venues, each smaller than 12 x 17 x 6 inches. Rolling bags of any size, including luggage and rolling laptop bags, are not accepted, and all bags are searched.
  • Parking: CES says there is no public parking at the LVCC or Venetian Expo. Passenger pickup and drop-off at the LVCC is only at the S2, C5 and West Hall entrances.
  • Monorail: discounted passes can be added at registration, and your badge then works at the faregates. The Monorail does not serve Venetian Expo.
  • Refunds: cancellations received in writing by December 9, 2026 are refunded less a $50 processing fee; after that there are no refunds. Monorail tickets are non-refundable.

Questions about CES

When is CES 2027?

CES 2027 is January 6-9, 2027 in Las Vegas, with media days at Mandalay Bay on January 4 and 5. The Consumer Technology Association has also published CES 2028 for January 11-14, 2028 and CES 2029 for January 9-12, 2029, so you can plan well ahead for any of them.

Can the general public attend CES?

No. CES is a trade-only event for people 18 or older who are affiliated with the consumer technology industry, and the organiser states plainly that it is not open to the general public. Registrants must upload proof of industry affiliation, such as a company website and a business card or LinkedIn profile, and CES reviews it before approving the badge.

How much does a CES 2027 badge cost?

The Standard Pass costs $149 through November 30 and $349 from December 1 to January 9; it covers the exhibit floor, keynotes, Great Minds sessions and select conference sessions. The Premium Pass, which adds all conference sessions and tracks, costs $1,450 through November 30 and $1,750 after. Register only through ces.tech.

Where is CES held?

CES 2027 uses 12 official venues in three campuses, centred on the Las Vegas Convention Center, Venetian Expo and ARIA. Free CES shuttles run between official hotels and the main venues, and the Tech Express connects the LVCC with Venetian Expo throughout the show.

Where do I pick up my CES badge?

You must collect your own badge in person before entering any show venue; badges are never mailed and nobody can collect one for you. Pickup points include Harry Reid International Airport baggage claim, MGM Grand and the LVCC. Bring government-issued photo ID and your registration QR code.

What bags can I bring into CES?

Each attendee may carry two small bags, each smaller than 12 x 17 x 6 inches, and clear bags are encouraged to speed up entry. Rolling bags of any size are refused, including luggage and wheeled laptop bags. Bag check is available at the LVCC and Venetian Expo, but CES recommends leaving bags at your hotel.
