About

Electric Daisy Carnival is Insomniac's flagship dance music festival, built around stages, carnival rides and art installations. Insomniac says EDC began in 1997 as a warehouse party in Los Angeles produced by its founder Pasquale Rotella, and debuted at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

The festival moved from Los Angeles to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2011, and the Speedway has been its home ever since. Insomniac says more than 400,000 people attended the 20th anniversary edition in Las Vegas in 2016.

2027 brings a new format: two festival weekends, EDC Dusk and EDC Dawn, with what founder Pasquale Rotella calls 12 straight days of EDC in between, with events, art and music around the city, some ticketed and many free. Insomniac says the production and lineup are planned to be the same both weekends.

What to expect

Insomniac warns that the Speedway is a long way from downtown, so plan transport ahead. On the Fridays, May 14 and 21, gates open at 5 PM for the opening ceremony; on weekends the grounds open at 7 PM. Every night ends at 5:30 AM. Entry closes an hour before the end, and there are no ins and outs.

Insomniac recommends its official shuttles, the only buses with direct access to the festival gates. Standard Shuttles leave World Market Center, the Rio, the Strat and Mid-Strip continuously from 6:30 PM to 11 PM and return from 2 AM until an hour after the music ends; there is no service between 11 PM and 2 AM.

Drivers should follow the festival's signs rather than Google or Waze: from the Strip, take I-15 north to Exit 54. General parking is free and opens at 3 PM on Fridays and 5 PM on weekends. Rideshare and taxis use a dedicated lot reached from the E. Tropical Parkway exit.
