About

Sphere sits at 255 Sands Avenue, and standard-admission guests on foot enter by the Venetian Bridge stairway. It is run by Sphere Entertainment Co., which describes it as an experiential medium that hosts original Sphere Experiences, concerts and residencies, and brand events. The Las Vegas building was the company's first Sphere, with further venues announced for Abu Dhabi and National Harbor.

The main film experience is The Wizard of Oz at Sphere. The venue says it adds 4D effects such as scent, wind, fog, mist and indoor fireworks, plus seat haptics, and runs about 75 minutes. It is the first 4D production of this size Sphere has made.

Between film runs the venue books concerts and special events. Sphere is cashless, sells mobile tickets only, and all sales are final.

What to expect

Standard-admission guests walk in via the Venetian Bridge stairway. VIP guests use the West VIP entry on Sands Avenue, and more entrances sit on Westchester Drive past the security checkpoint. Bags are screened or X-rayed. Inside, the Atrium has bars and food stands such as Atrium Kitchen + Bar, Cantina and Taphouse. You may take photos in the Atrium, but not during the film.

For The Wizard of Oz, doors open 45 minutes before the time on your ticket and the film starts on time, with no late seating. Sphere warns that seat haptics, movement sensations, flashing light, loud noise, falling objects, pyrotechnics, fog, wind, bubbles and scent are part of the show. Leaving ends your visit, because all exits are final and re-entry is not allowed.

Questions about Sphere

Where do I enter Sphere?

Sphere is at 255 Sands Avenue. Standard-admission guests on foot enter through the Venetian Bridge stairway, while VIP guests use the West VIP entry on Sands Avenue. More entrances are on Westchester Drive past the security checkpoint near the black gates, leading to the Plaza Entry on the building's east side. The venue asks guests to arrive early and to allow extra time for street closures when driving.

What is the bag policy at Sphere?

Large bags and backpacks are not permitted. Sphere allows clutches and purses smaller than 6 by 6 by 2 inches, plus diaper bags and medical bags, and every bag is subject to screening or X-ray. Laptops, tablets, video cameras, professional cameras, monopods, tripods and selfie sticks are also on the prohibited list, so leave them at your hotel.

How long is The Wizard of Oz at Sphere, and can kids go?

Sphere says the film experience runs about 75 minutes and is intended for guests aged 6 and older. Every guest needs a ticket, whatever their age. Because the show uses seat haptics, movement, flashing lights, loud sound, pyrotechnics and effects such as fog, wind and scent, the venue suggests pregnant guests and anyone sensitive to these consult a physician first.

Where is rideshare pickup for Sphere?

Rideshare pickup and drop-off is at the corner of Manhattan Street and Westchester Drive. Sphere says the venue entrance sits across from the drop-off point and staff are on site on event days to direct guests. Limited on-site parking can be bought in advance through Ticketmaster, and the venue also lists the Howard Hughes garage and other local garages.

Can I pay cash or bring food into Sphere?

No. Sphere is a cashless venue that takes credit cards, debit cards and mobile payment. Reverse ATMs on levels 2, 4 and 6 turn cash into a debit card. Outside food and drink, including sealed cans and bottles, is not allowed; the exception is medical needs approved in advance by Guest Relations. Empty clear soft plastic water bottles may come in and be refilled inside.
