About

Maryland Parkway is a north-south road east of the Strip. One stretch passes the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, whose main campus address is 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. The area falls inside the zone shown on Clark County's Paradise Town Advisory Board map, so the county governs it.

The campus holds two venues open to the public. The Thomas & Mack Center hosts Runnin' Rebel basketball, rodeo, ice shows and touring events. The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is the university's art museum and runs free exhibitions.

RTC's RED LINE is a bus rapid transit route on Maryland Parkway. It runs 24 hours between the Bonneville Transit Center downtown and Harry Reid International Airport's Terminal 1, with timed stops at Charleston, Sahara, Desert Inn, Flamingo and Tropicana.

What to expect

Most visitors come for an event or the museum. The Thomas & Mack Center's fall and winter calendar includes the Wrestling U23 World Championships on October 12-18, 2026, the National Finals Rodeo on December 3-12, 2026, and Disney On Ice on January 7-10, 2027. Tickets are sold through UNLV Tickets.

The Barrick Museum is free, with a suggested contribution of $5 for adults and $2 for children and seniors. It is closed while new exhibitions are installed and reopens on October 23, 2026, with an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. When exhibitions are up, it is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Good to know

  • UNLV visitors must park in visitor or pay spaces, or display a valid permit. Short-term parking costs $2 per hour, payable through the PayByPhone app.
  • There is a visitor-only lot at Maryland Parkway and Harmon Avenue.
  • The Barrick Museum says visitors may park in staff and student spots after 7 p.m. on weekdays, after 1 p.m. on Fridays, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Metered parking is free at those times.
