North Las Vegas is an incorporated city with its own city council, police and fire departments, separate from the City of Las Vegas. The city reports 290,144 residents and calls itself one of the fastest-growing cities in Nevada.

The city promotes a Restaurant Row along Craig Road. The city's parks department runs Craig Ranch Regional Park at 628 W. Craig Road, home to The Amp, a 10,000-seat concert and event venue. Farther east on Craig Road is the Cannery Casino Hotel, which Boyd Gaming says opened in 2003 on 28 acres.

In the city's far north, Aliante Casino + Hotel + Spa sits on more than 40 acres within the Aliante master-planned community, at Aliante Parkway and Interstate 215. It is also a Boyd Gaming property.

What to expect

North Las Vegas is a residential and commercial city rather than a resort district. Visitors usually come for a specific stop: a concert or park day at Craig Ranch, or a casino visit. Aliante lists more than 200 rooms and suites, five restaurants, a 650-seat showroom, over 100,000 square feet of gaming space, a pool and a spa.

Cannery lists 72,000 square feet of gaming space plus restaurants and hotel rooms, a few minutes off Interstate 15. Craig Ranch Regional Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Besides The Amp, it has a skate park and a dog park.
